S01 E18

Episode 18 was recorded in Wellington in Prince Edward County at Armstrong Glassworks where I spoke with veteran glass blower Mark Armstrong. When I arrived, Mark was in the middle of making a tumbler, so I took a few photos of the process, and we later discussed things like the jacks tool and the process of switching to the punty or pontil rod (both shown below).

The tumbler looked like this when I arrived.
Shaping the tumbler with the jacks.
Mark Armstrong, glass blower, setting up to transfer the work to the punty or pontil rod.
Cutting the work off the blow pipe.
Starting to shape up.
Almost a tumbler!
Tapping the finished tumbler off the punty/pontil rod.

To see more of Mark’s work, visit his website at armstrongglassworks.com or take a trip out to his studio and see the veteran of hot glass work in action. It’s a little bit of magic, I’m telling you. Armstrong Glassworks is located at 326 Second Ave. in Wellington, ON.

This show will be aired Wednesday, April 3 at 6pm and Friday, April 5 at 1pm.

Listen anytime on the iTunes podcast or the googlePlay podcast.
