The Amherst Island Folk Festival was a fabulous success!
Thank you to everybody for coming.
We may be the only station in the world broadcasting from the milkhouse of an old dairy barn, but we emphasize Canadian music and Canadian content.
CJAI has existed for an incredible three years on a shoestring. We’ve become one of the best new community radio stations in Canada. Public Radio in the best sense of the word. We are a legally registered not-for-profit, volunteer operated community station.
Our on-air signal covers an area of about 9,000 people in Loyalist Township, and we are also heard in Kingston, Napanee, Belleville, Picton, Odessa and beyond. You can check out our live audio here.
The government provides community licenses to provide local community information, local news, and promote Canadian talent in multiple musical genres: Folk, Blues, Jazz, Country, Chill, Gospel, Big Band, Swing, Bluegrass, Classical, and even Indie Rock. We have a slot for it all! We receive NO MUSIC from MAJOR LABELS whatsoever.
Are you a musician and want to get us your stuff? GREAT! We take CD’s, MP3, WMA, WAV, etc, and we will even take stuff right off your MySpace page if the production value is good!
See if the Amherst Island ferry is at Stella dock on the Island, or on the way here as seen on our second camera. Click on “CJAI Weather etc” above to look at the new streaming ferrycam.
Until approximately December 24th, the Amherst Island ferry, the Frontenac II, is replaced by the Quinte Loyalist, a much smaller car ferry boat. Please allow yourself time to queue up, to ensure that you and your vehicle can get onboard the boat.
The ferry service leaves the mainland, at the Milhaven dock, on the half-hour, and departs from the Stella dock, on Amherst Island, on the hour, between 6:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. daily.
